Angkor Wat, is a temple complex at Angkor, near Siĕm réap, Cambodia, built by King Suryavarman II roughly between A.D. 1113 and 1150 and encompassing an area of about 500 acres.
Better to see something once,

The temple was dedicated to the gods Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu, with more than a thousand buildings, Originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu, it was converted into a Buddhist temple in the 14th century, and statues of Buddha were added to its rich artwork.
Angkor Wat also known for the world’s largest “HINDU TEMPLE, and it is one of the great cultural wonders of the world“.
In the early 15th century Angkor was abandoned & was “rediscovered” after the French colonial regime was established in 1863, In 1992 the Angkor complex was designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

⭐Voyage Verdict’s Trip Report and Tips for Traveler’s⭐
VISIT MONTH-MARCH 2017
Angkor Wat the largest Hindu Temple on the earth is a must-have place for any tourist. It’s near to India but unfortunately, there is no direct flight to Cambodia from India, You can fly to Bangkok, Singapore, or KUL and then take a 1.5 Hours to Siam reap the nearest airport to Holy site of Angkor Wat.
Stopover in Bangkok is the cheapest option and I opt for the same. booked the flight on goibibo reached Siam reap at around 7.30 PM. The airport is a tiny one and most tourists flying to this airport are visitors to Angkor Wat.
The Cambodian visa for Indians is Visa on arrival and the cost is 30US$,(you can also apply online for e-Visa ) Process at airport is Very very easy and you just need to fill up a Visa form, affix a photograph and submit it along with fees in cash, the immigration officer is just checking within 1 -2 minutes and issue a sticker Visa.
I was out of the airport in just 20 minutes of flight landing. please note that this airport has a very limited transfer facility to city center of Siam reap and Uber services are not available hence it is highly advisable to make your arrangement in advance your hotel can provide the transfer as a part of the package,
I booked hotel Secret Pavilion urban Boutique hotel (Now known as Salasara) through goibibo at a very reasonable rate of 70 US$/ ₹4800 for 2 nights including BREAKFAST & Airport transfer, the hotel is just 2 blocks away from Famous Night Market and Pub street which is famous for nightlife.
The hotel person was waiting for me outside the Airport, unfortunately hotels has arranges a tuk-tuk a famous Auto vehicle in south east Asia instead of a car, but its okay I enjoyed the 40 min Ride to hotel, reached the hotel at around 9.30 PM, I had a smal chitchat with auto driver and found very nice and humble fellow and i decided to explore Siam reap and Angkor in Auto with same driver & my Hotel Manager has agreed to provide happily with fess of 15 USD Per day but the best is the driver will be at my disposal for the whole day.
Woke up at 8.30 AM, had a Complimentary breakfast in the hotel, and was ready for the day to explore a much-awaited site of Angkor Wat. the driver was waiting for me outside the hotel and we reached Angkor wat site at around 11.00 AM, the entry fees for Angkor wat is based on no. of days ranges form 30-70 USD, I bought one day pass. the site is few km away from Entrance center and some of the parts are from the dense forest. here is my picture journey of ANGKOR WAT

1. My Journey from Siam Reap to Angkor Wat
Site of Angkor is Approximately 6 KM away from my hotel and Ride-on Tuk-tuk is Fun, you will also have a chance to see glimpses of the city of Siam reap, aside to this you engage your driver for the whole day – it’s not a drop me here and I’ll get the next available tuk-tuk to the next temple. The drivers out at the temples will be with you all time. The driver will drop you at the entrance to the first temple, wait for you to come out, and then take you on to the next one.
2.Angkor Wat Pathway and Frontage

Access to the temple is by an earth bank to the east and a sandstone causeway to the west. The outer wall of Angkor Wat is 1,024*802 Meter & 4.5 Meter high, also it is surrounded by a 30 Meter apron of open ground and a moat 190 Meter wide and over 5 Kilometer in perimeter. The moat extends 1.5 kilometers from east to west and 1.3 kilometers from north to south

the southern tower is a statue known as Ta Reach, originally an eight-armed statue of Vishnu, but when the temple was converted to Buddhist Temple in the 13th century, the statue was converted to a Buddha statue by replacing its head with the head of Buddha

The temple is a representation of Mount Meru, the home of the gods: the central quincunx of towers symbolizes the five peaks of the mountain, and the walls and moat symbolize the surrounding mountain ranges and ocean.

The temple stands on a terrace raised higher than the city, The stones, as smooth as polished marble, were laid without mortar with very tight joints that are sometimes hard to find, Virtually all of its surfaces, columns, lintels, and even roofs are carved.

6. Ta Prohm
Ta Prohm is the modern name of the temple in Siem Reap, built in the Bayon style & Located 1 KM east of Angkor Thom. The temple of Ta Prohm was used as a location in the film Tomb Raider, featuring the character Lara Croft, portrayed by Angelina Jolie.
7. Ta Keo, Angkor 🛕
Ta Keo is a temple-mountain in Angkor & first to be built entirely of sandstone by Khmers.
8. Bayon, Angkor 🛕
The Bayon is a richly decorated Khmer Buddhist and earlier Hindu temple, The Bayon’s most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers.
9. Phimeanakas, Angkor 🛕
Phimeanakas is a Hindu temple built at the end of the 10th century, the shape of a three tier pyramid as a Hindu temple. On top of the pyramid there was a tower, while on the edge of top platform there are galleries.
Phimeanakas is located inside the walled enclosure of the Royal Palace of Angkor Thom.
10. Baphoun, Angkor 🛕
The Baphuon is a temple at Angkor, It is located in Angkor Thom, northwest of the Bayon, Built in the mid-11th century, it is a three-tiered temple mountain and built as the state temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva.
11. Sunrise and Sunset Point, Angkor 🛕
Sunrise at Angkor wat is very Popular amongst tourist and Thousand and thousands of tourist assembled just outside of temple near waterway.
Sunset on Hills of Angkor is also one of the favorite place and many ends their trip at this place enjoying Sunset.
12. Preah Khan, Angkor 🛕
Preah Khan is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII to honor his father, It is located northeast of Angkor Thom. Return to Siam Reap.
Preah Khan was my Last stoppage and i was really tired and decided to drop more sites of Angkor and asked driver to take me back to Hotel.
Trip Ends at 7.30 and reached Hotel around 8.00 PM, I strongly suggest to keep at least 2 Days for Angkor so as to spend a quality time at each site.

For those wishing for a more scenic arrival, a boat trip is available from Phnom Penh. You’ll travel up the Mekong River and through the beautiful Tonle Sap Lake, arriving in Siem Reap three days later.
