Throughout this guide, I’ll show you exactly how I would explore each destination while saving money and making the most of every hour ashore.

Before You Leave the Ship

Every port day follows the same simple routine:

✔️ Enjoy an early breakfast on board (included in your cruise fare)

✔️ Carry your passport or ship card as instructed by the cruise line.

✔️ Download Google Maps offline before your trip.

✔️ Carry a reusable water bottle.

✔️ Wear comfortable walking shoes.

✔️ Be back at the ship at least 30–45 minutes before the all-aboard time. The ship will not wait for late passengers.

🇮🇹 Day 1 – Savona, Italy

Time in Port: Afternoon departure

Savona is a charming Italian port town and the home port for many Costa Cruises sailings.

If you’re staying nearby before embarkation, arrive early and enjoy a relaxed walk.
